NEGROS ORIENTAL (PIA) — Victorias Milling Co., Inc. (VMC) invited schools and students all over Negros Island to beat the deadline and register online for the 4th Interschool Art Contest before September 9.
Mechanics and application forms for the art competition can be accessed through the company’s website at http://victoriasmilling.com/VMC-Art-Contest-2016/ and deadline for submission of entries is through online.
Schools can send as many entries as they can, provided that each student registrant must upload photos of previous works which will be the basis of judging for the elimination round after the closing of the online registration.
Those who pass the elimination round will receive official letters of invitation for the on-the-spot contest slated on September 17 in Victorias City; September 24 in Bacolod City for Negros Occidental participants; and October 1 in Dumaguete City for Negros Oriental qualifiers.
The contest initiated in 2013 has expanded since last year to an island-wide search for talented visual artists.
This year, though, VMC will mount an on-the-spot art contest to be hosted in three separate venues – Victorias City, Bacolod and Dumaguete and divided into five categories – Victorias City Elementary and High School categories; Negros Island Region (NIR) Elementary Category; NIR High School Category and NIR Tertiary Category.
Cash prizes and computer packages for schools of winning artists are at stake including continuing mentoring for the winners through workshops with experts in the field of visual arts and a company-sponsored exhibition for tertiary level winners.
In re-inventing this competition, VMC is collaborating with Negrense artists Rafael “Paeng” Paderna, Rodney Martinez and Charlie Co.
