NEGROS ORIENTAL (PIA) – The PLDT-Smart has announced the launching of its free Wifi data service here at Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport on August 24.
In response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s call for telecommunication companies in his State of Nation Address (SONA) to improve internet service in the country, PLDT-Smart has started installing to put up Wifi footprint in the airport.
According to its public relations officer Nora Navarro of SmartComm transport or airport and local officials lead by governor Roel Degamo and Dumaguete City mayor Felipe Remollo will grace the occasion.
Dumaguete Airport, Navarro said is one of the transport hubs in the country identified to have free Wifi connections. In his SONA, Pres. Duterte pledged to provide better, faster internet service and free in most public places.
This internet Wifi access connection shall be provided at no charge in selected public areas such as airports, seaports, government hospitals, plazas, parks, train stations, school and public libraries.
