ICT Dgte, Microsoft hold tech startups

By Jennifer Catan-Tilos

DUMAGUETE CITY (PIA) — The ICT Association of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental (ICT DGTE) and Microsoft and TechTalks.ph will  host a technology startup for local tech talents of Dumaguete dubbed “Building your Next Generation Apps” on June 17 at 1:00 p.m.

ICT-Dumaguete executive director Danah Fortunato said this aims to build and strengthen the skill sets of the local ICT community.

The event is free and open to all developers, startups, tech enthusiasts, and entrepreneurs.

This is in line with the popularity of tech startups including “unicorn” (billion dollar companies) such as Uber, Airbnb, and Facebook, said Fortunato.

Here in the Philippines, world famous boxer and Senator-elect Manny Pacquiao just invested in a Singaporean startup company.

A non-profit promoting technology, Microsoft talk together with TechTalks.ph encouraged the youth to maximize their learnings and not just use Facebook for personal reasons but also use technology in their professional careers and businesses.

Fortunate said that slots for the event are limited. Those interested in attending the event can sign up at http://bit.ly/buildnextgenapps and http://bit.ly/msstartuptalk.

IT professionals/teachers, developers, programmers, designers, techies will gather in the afternoon for the “Building your Next Generation Apps” session while startups, small IT-BPMs, and techies will meet in the evening for the “Startup Talk: Tools and Strategies for Startups”.
