NEGROS ORIENTAL(PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR awarded recently the Dumaguete Kalauman Center for Development, Inc. as its first licensed social welfare agency.
Kalauman received the certificate and license to operate for complying with the requirements to operate as a social welfare and development agency implementing Welfare Services for Children, Youth, Families and Communities.
This is in accordance with section 23, Republic Act 4373 “An Act to regulate the Practice of Social Work and the operation of Social Work Agencies in the Philippines and for other Purposes.”
The license to operate is valid from February 18, 2016 to February 17, 2019.
Board of Trustees President Glynda Descuatan, Board Emeritus Marina Mendoza, and Project Administrator Liberty Murillo of Kalauman accepted the award.
Descuatan expressed appreciation for the successful partnership with DSWD and Kalauman Center.
She also pledged to render services as stated in their objectives.
Kalauman serves children living with adults who are under–or unemployed and provides opportunities for the children’s families to participate in community activities that will help them become self-reliant and self-sufficient.
