NEGROS ORIENTAL (PIA) – Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman together with Amlan Mayor Bentham Dela Cruz led the groundbreaking ceremony recently for the P4.8 million evacuation and crisis center in Amlan town.
Construction of the two-storey building is funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Bottom-up Budgeting (
Information Officer Phoebe Jen Indino of Pantawid Pamilya said Soliman lauded the construction of the evacuation and crisis center as it will play a vital role in protecting the lives of the vulnerable citizens especially the women and children.
“We are happy with this new development for Amlan as this will help us strengthen our campaign to end violence against women and children (VAWC) and reduce the risks during disasters,” Soliman said.
Mayor Dela Cruz, for his part, disclosed that the completion of the building with the support of the community will help in protecting the lives of the vulnerable citizens
“This project is the realization of our long dream to have a center that will house victims of VAWC,” he said.
The building worth P4,842,950.58 along Poblacion, Amlan Highway is slated to be completed middle of this year.
Of the total budget, DSWD allotted P2 million for the construction of the facility while the rest came from the Department of Interior and Local Government and the local government unit of Amlan, Indino said.
