Energy Development Corporation’s (EDC) communications campaign, Positive Energy Negros, seeks youth musician groups from Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental to compose their own song based on the theme “Positive Energy Battle of the Bands” in a music festival.

The Battle of the Bands will showcase the musical talents of the youth Negrenses as they try to incorporate environmental messages in the lyrics of their compositions.

The composition may be in English, Tagalog, Hiligaynon, and Cebuano, but Corporate communication officer Frances Ariola said if it’s in the local dialect, the participant is requested to submit an English translation for the judges’ appreciation.

The participants may submit as many original compositions as they can in video or audio format. It can be in any genre as long as it follows the theme.

The audition team will choose some finalists to perform live in the Positive Energy Music Festival in Valencia.

Ariola said all the finalists will be shuttled to the venue, also with the invited guest popular performers from Manila.

Interested local band groups may download a registration form at https://goo.glRTWOB and fill up the required information and send the entry to positivenergynegros@gmail.com.

As the EDC intensifies its environmental advocacy, Ariola said “generating clean, renewable and sustainable power is Positive Energy, and protecting our environment is an essential part of it.”

This music festival will feature the young voices that will send the appropriate environmental message, and clearly nothing beats music in uniting the young crowd towards action, stressed Ariola. (rmn/jct/PIA7-Negros Oriental/This article was first published at PIA website on Sept. 3, 2015)
