DUMAGUETE CITY (PIA) – The Dumaguete City government leads this year’s various summer sports activities with the Sports and Youth Development Office in its Summer Sports Clinic for the youth-residents.
The city together with some non-government organizations are now offering the youths engaging in music, sports, arts and many more.
City Sports Officer Ike Villaflores said the activity is free to all Dumaguetenos between ages six to 18.
Villaflores said the sports clinic features 11 sports disciplines which include basketball, volleyball, football, softball, sepak takraw, dancesport, chess, boxing, karatedo, muaythai, and arnis.
The clinic has started early this month at the Dumaguete City Multi-Purpose Center in Barangay Calindagan.
Meanwhile, the Jay Cyrus Creative Studios also opens their summer workshop for this year with the first songwriting competition in Negros Oriental.
Original compositions of the top six finalists have been presented with live performance.
Yna Paborada won first place and received a cash prize of P10,000 of which her composition will have the chance to be produced and published in the public.
JCC Studio owner Jay Cyrus Villanueva said that aside from that event they also offer different classes in music which includes piano, drums, saxophone, violin, flute or voice.
Cittadini School is also opens its summer workshop in communications for all ages that will help enhance communication skills such as lessons in debate, journalism, training in American accent, and English grammar.
