Dumaguete City’s 66th Charter Day Fiesta celeb set

DUMAGUETE CITY (PIA)–Dumaguete City is set to celebrate its 66th Charter  Fiesta Anniversary with  several activities lined-up including seven schools participating in this year’s Sandurot Festival on November 22.

However, the City Tourism Office is still waiting for the confirmation of one of the  schools which serves as the eighth participant.

The Dumaguete City government through Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria set aside of P70,000 pesos for  the subsidy of each  participants.

School-participants include Saint Louis School- Don Bosco, Colegio de Sta. Catalina de Alejandria (COSCA), Asian College, Foundation University (FU), Saint Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD), Dumaguete City High School and Metro Dumaguete College.

Street dancing competition of Sandurot Festival will start at 3:00 p.m., while the showdown at 5:00 p.m. at the City Hall Quadrangle, said Woodrow Maquiling Jr., City Tourism Officer.

Meanwhile, eight lovely ladies will also vie for the Miss Dumaguete 2014 on November 21 at the Negros Oriental Convention Center, Dumaguete City.

Miss Dumaguete candidates are Lineth Avanzado. Ritchlie Cais, Mendy Mae de Guia, Crichele Geralde, Menchit Maraña, Maria Catherine Mirasol, Kae Lena Nuique and Malka Shaver.

Maquiling said most of these candidates passed the height requirement wherein one candidate is stands 5’7” tall.

The talent night and presentation of the official aspirants will be held Sunday, November 16 during the opening Salvo at 6:oo p.m. at  Quezon Park. (mbcn/JCT/PIA7-Negros Oriental/Article first published at PIA Website on Nov. 7, 2014)
