DUMAGUETE CITY(PIA) – The Gawad Kalinga (GK) in Negros Oriental pays tribute to 302nd Infantry Brigade (IB) of the Philippine Army for their efforts to sustain the “Bayanihan” spirit among local stakeholders in the province.

GK Coordinator Joseph Ceriales saluted the government troops for dedicating their time in ensuring the sustainability and stability of peace and development initiatives in the province and for exhibiting the essence of taking responsibility through the spirit of “Bayanihan” and volunteerism.

“They have developed the culture of excellence in serving the less fortunate from the camp to the hinterlands,” Ceriales said.

The 302nd IB is also actively supporting GK in their community projects.

Just recently, the 302nd IB had its change of command. Brigadier Gen. Francisco Patrimonio passed on the leadership of the brigade to Col. Allan Martin. The ceremony was held last June 11 in Camp Leon Kilat, Tanjay City.

BGen. Patrimonio, who served the brigade since July 2011 will now serve as Assistant Division Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division of Philippine Army based in Jamindan, Capiz.

On the other hand, Col. Martin was with the Training and Doctrine Command of the army before assuming to his new post.

Even though the army brigade had its change its leadership, Ceriales still believes the government troops will continue to inspire, involve and influence every Negrense to attain a future full of hope pride and dignity.

“All our efforts as a united Filipino nation as exemplified by the 302nd Brigade and the Negrense along with other kindhearted volunteers, I, for one, would be strong in my faith to envision a progressive Philippines,” Ceriales remarked.

Ceriales continues to make a call for a strengthened “Bayanihan” spirit among local residents of the province to achieve lasting change.

“Bayanihan is still alive in the hearts of every Filipino and I believe that everyone, regardless, of race and status in life must get involved in this kind of commitment for the good of mankind. For this reason, I call on each and every one of us, to commit ourselves in building peace and order in every province or locality,” he adds.
