DUMAGUETE CITY, Oct. 22 (PIA) — The city government here inaugurated the state-of-the-art comfort rooms located at the end of Rizal Boulevard beside the Dumaguete Press Club Building in a simple ceremony Friday morning.
Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria said the state-of-the-art and environment-friendly comfort rooms are censor-operated and equipped with hand soap and toilet paper.
For sanitary needs like napkins and tissue paper, users will be charged a fee of P2 only.
Said facility brings to nine the total number of waterless comfort rooms funded by the city government.
Eight of them are now fully operating at the Dumaguete Public Market.
Meanwhile, Rep. George Arnaiz (2nd district of Negros Oriental) lauded the Dumaguete City government of for initiating the construction of the waterless comfort rooms at the Dumaguete Public Market.
Arnaiz said Dumaguete City is the first local government unit in the country that adapted modern technology to save water.
The modern comfort rooms at the Rizal Boulevard will cater to the influx of people or tourists.
Sagarbarria stressed everyone can use the comfort rooms in the two separate areas in the public market and Rizal boulevard.
Also present during the blessing and inauguration were market superintendent Engr. Jose Fortin and his staff with City Legal Officer Neil Ray Lagahit, City Engineer Edwin Kirit, and city hall employees with Rev. Father Roman Sagon as the celebrant.(rmn/JCT/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
