Dumaguete City celebrates ‘Children’s Month’

DUMAGUETE CITY (PIA) — The Dumaguete City Social Welfare and Development (DCSWD) office has set several activities to highlight the celebration of Children’s Month this October.
This year’s theme “Kahirapan Wakasan, Karapatang Pambata Ipaglaban,” aims to encourage stakeholders to help reduce poverty and to advocate for stronger holistic actions, particularly preventive measures to address problems on poverty.

Among the activities identified include Thanksgiving Mass at St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish on October 7 at 2:00pm then followed by a street parade at 3:30pm.

On October 8, at 10 am, a minus-1 singing contest will be held at Robinson mall, and  a  draw and tell contest at 2:00 pm.
Other highlights include Children’s Fun Day on October 9 at 10:00 am at Robinson Mall that is sponsored by Dumaguete Day Care Parents Federation and  Rotary Club of Dumaguete North.
While on October 10 at 10 am, an awarding of winners and folk dance presentation to conclude some of the activities which Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria is expected to give his inspirational message.
On October 11 an evaluation meeting with the steering committees will be held.
 Activities lined-up for the celebration of this annual event recognize the talents, skills, achievement and rights of children. (mbcn/JCT/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
