DUMAGUETE CITY, Sept 12 (PIA)– Lapu-Lapu troopers of the 11th Infantry Battalion in partnership with the National BookStore Foundation, distributed recently 4,155 school packs to the elementary students of the different hinterland barangays in Negros Oriental.
the recipients come from the public school pupils of the seven barangays of Buenavista, Magsaysay, Nagsaha, Mandi-I, Hinakpan, Luz, Linantuyan all of Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental and another four barangays from Negros Occidental which include barangays Sikatuna, Sebucawan, Libas and San Agustin.
The students received recently each set of school packs that contains four notebooks, ballpen, pencils, sharpener and eraser.
Civil military operations officer 1Lt Von Ryan Gomez said the teachers and parents of the school kids thanked the 11IB for choosing their school for that generous activity.
1Lt Gomez said the memorable and meaningful event was particularly witnessed and assisted by the teachers-in-charge of the school and Barangay Captains.
Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Wilfredo V. Isaac of 11IB said aside from its main focus of conducting peace and security operations, the army is also enhancing its development initiatives particularly in securing the future of the youth in partnership with various stakeholders under the Bayanihan campaign of the AFP.
Isaac expressed that education is the best factor for lasting peace and prosperity towards attaining continues development.
This activity focused to school children who have endured rough terrains, hiked the most hinterlands of Central Negros and tolerated heavy rains to reach the innermost elementary schools, Gomez said.
The school barangays identified as depressed areas for gift giving of school packs for the month- long activity of the 11th IB is called “Handog para sa Kapayapaan, Karunungan para sa Kabataan” program. (mbcn/JCT/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
