Army assists CLOA distribution to farmers in Guihulngan City

DUMAGUETE CITY, July 31(PIA) — Forty-two farmer-beneficiaries in Barangay Buenavista received Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) recently at the barangay’s basketball court in Guihulngan City.

Army troops of the 11th Infantry Battalion led by LtCol Wilfredo Isaac facilitated the distribution of CLOAs which were handed personally by Guihulngan City Mayor Carlo Jorge Joan Reyes with Buenavista Barangay Captain Romeo Alipan, and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) officer Hanani Quijote.

Civil military operations officer 2Lt Jomart Jess Poquiz the11IB said this was made possibe through its bayanihan teams in convergence of efforts with various stakeholders that resolved primary issues related to agrarian reform.

2Lt Poquiz said the military troops facilitated the release of individual CLOAs to 2,108 farmer beneficiaries in the hinterland areas of its area of responsibility in the first district of Negros Oriental from 2011 to date.

One of the beneficiaries, 72-year old Mitudio Estraw exclaimed “Sukad sa akong pagka bata, hangtod ni dako akong mga bata, wala gyud ko nag too na makayuta ko, daghan salamat sa nitabang namo, ug matawag nako, tag iya og yuta,” related Poquiz. (I have never dreamed that I will own my land now. From the time I was young, up to the time my children have grown up I have never thought I could own our land. Thank you to those who help us.)

In his message, agrarian reform officer Quijote expressed his gratitude to members of the Philippine Army for assisting the distribution of CLOA recipients.

“Kung dili tongud sa tabang sa mga ka kasundaluhan dili jud namo ma sulbad ang daghang problema nga atong gi atobang,” Quijote said. (If it was not because of the help of the soldiers, we couldn’t have solved the many problems we faced.)

LTC Isaac stressed that the 11IB seriously deals with primary issues that foment insurgency. Moreover, his unit is doing its best in the performance of its internal peace and security operations in convergence with the efforts of all concerned stakeholders to help create an environment conducive for sustainable development.

Mayor Reyes congratulated the 11IB for successfully facilitating the said activity and supporting the local government unit in its endeavors to serve the people, and the beneficiaries for finally becoming land owners after decades of waiting. (mbcn/JCT/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
